The New York Yankees have long been esteemed and regarded as baseball royalty. How many pennants have they won? Is it twenty-six World Series titles or twenty seven? Their level of success is absurd. The New York Yankees, however, are no fun to watch. They lack the type of spirit and workhorse magic that other baseball teams inspire. Every single year the Yankees have the highest payroll in the major leagues; it tops off somewhere above 200 million dollars. How is that a level playing field? Most teams have a tiny fraction of that amount. The New York Yankees can afford the best talent; they can outbid other teams, and lure players with the promise of outrageous contracts and paychecks. A 200 million dollar payroll should be enough to ensure a World Series ring every year. But that is not how baseball works. The Yankees are smug, elite, and entitled, but just because your baseball team has money does not mean it has passion and spirit. The Yankees are a passionless team. Do the Yankees even have fans outside the 5 boroughs? The pinstripes once stood for tradition, but
their current bloated payroll has diminished the power of their legacy.

“Some men have all the luck,’ sung Rod Stewart. According to legend, Stewart was singing about Mick Jagger but today he could be singing about A-rod, aka Alex Rodriquez. A-rod, 35 and already makes more money than the combined GNP of South America, has hit home runs with some of most sought after women of this generation, including Madonna, Golden Globe winning actress Kate Hudson and his latest flame, actress Cameron Diaz, 38.

If one placed photos of Diaz and Hudson side by side, it-s tempting to think the two had been separated at birth. Perhaps A-rod just gets his girlfriends out of a catalogue instead of picking up dates in the traditional way of a New York Yankee ” from strip clubs.

And Diaz is working to keep her man. She-s been working with a professional trainer to give her washboard abs and toned biceps. Perhaps she-ll pinch hit for A-rod the next time he gets injured, which will probably happen in the next ten minutes. In August of 2011, he played a whopping four games. Looks like it-ll up to Diaz to pay the couple-s yacht maintenance bills, since A-rod may hurt himself trying to come up with an original thought.

The New York Yankees are the baseball media’s darling. For this reason, anything and everything they do is under close scrutiny from fans all over the world. With the team under a constant microscope, one big question always comes to mind: Why can’t Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez get along?

These are two of the best players of all time at their respective positions. Jeter recently joined the three thousand hit club, while Rodriguez is widely known for his homerun-hitting power. The fact that they are both all-time great players, however, is where the similarities end.

Jeter has long been the face of the Yankees, and, by default, the MLB. He’s been the go-to guy for MLB commercials, endorsements, and more. He’s done all of this without the steroid cloud over his head, unlike Alex Rodriguez. They can’t get along, because Rodriguez can’t stand how squeaky clean Jeter’s reputation is and how nobody speaks badly of him. Jeter can’t stand Rodriguez because he feels all of the accolades Alex gained with the steroid use are phony.

In the big-time media market of New York City, two rivaling forces collide on baseball’s most popular and celebrated team, and it’s a wonder to watch.

From a lack of direct tv service coverage areas to the crime rates and the traffic there are a lot of things to hate about New York. The Yankees top our list, of course, but we’d like to give you a few more reasons why. Because why not?
Cost of Concessions: We get it, New York is expensive but do the Yankees really need 14 for a HOT DOG? And don’t get us started on the cost of beerit’s just too much for the mind to handle.
Those Uniforms: What kind of arrogance leads a team to leave their uniform unchanged for decades? Get with the times, Yankees, and get some new uniforms. Seriously.
Being in the Bronx: We all know NY isn’t the safest town in the world and the Bronx isn’t the safest borough to boot. Why do the Yankees feel like they’ve got to make their home base there?
A-Rod: Ugh. There’s nothing to like about this guy, just nothing. We don’t know how he snagged Cameron Diaz but we’re ready for him to announce his retirement.

Well after another series with the Boston Red Sox the Yankees Starting Pitching Lets Them Down Again. The rivalry between the two teams has not lost any steam over the years. The Yankees which for years stood at the helm of the Eastern Division seem to have lost some of their fervor and their sportsmanship. The team may have forgotten how to play for the love of the sport, or maybe they forgot the good sportsmanship that makes a team a happy place to be. Certainly we can say that the team plays for the love of fame, money, ego and glory, but what about for the love of the sport? If the team is going to lose, as all teams do from time to time, why can they not seem to have heart? Heart is certainly what New Yorkers need more of with all the city has been through.Confused? Here ‘s a little help . Certainly it’s what the Yankees should aspire to give its fans in the face of losses great or small. After all it’s just a ball game, its not 9/11, its not loss of life, it’s just a game-albeit a good game”ok a great game! But the Yankees need to have more heart for their fans so the wins actually mean something and the losses aren’t the end of the world, just a time to respect the love of the game.

There is little argument as to who the most popular player on the Yankees is, and do not think for a second that Derek Jeter is not aware of this. He has used his popularity to gain a 189 million dollar, ten year contract. But with that contract about to expire, it will be interesting to see if his popularity will overcome his lack of performance on the field.

There has been much talk of Jeter changing positions. His current position at short-stop requires a level of skill that thirty-six year old Jeter clearly can not longer supply. A position change would be for the betterment of the team, but is Jeter truly a team player? Apparently not. He refuses to even discuss such a change, at least with the media. Though we have no way to knowing what goes on behind closed doors, it is not hard to imagine that this attitude continues there as well.

As usual, Jeter wants what he wants, and he is used to getting it. However, the demands of the younger, more physically capable Jeter were much more likely to be handed over than to the aging, veteran version. One thing is certain. It will be interesting to see if Jeter has it in him to do the right thing on his own, or if the Yankees will have to force a change.

When the Yankee’s struggle there is always a lot of finger pointing to go around. With their recent struggles people have been asking the question is Brian Cashman to blame for the Yankee’s Struggles? The answer is a simple yes. Poor decisions prior to and during the season have been made by Cashman.

Most people can understand being loyal to players that have won championships for your team. But paying aging players major money when their skills have clearly diminished is not a smart baseball move. Jorge Posada can’t get his batting average over .200 but he is making 13.1 million dollars this season. Plus who can forget the mudslinging and embarrassment Cashman caused his captain Derek Jeter this offseason during contract negotiations.

Now that these players are signed it seems like Cashman is using every opportunity possible to criticize them. Posada was not happy with being moved to the 9th spot and ordered a day off from the manager. It is not right to bail on your teammates like that, but even worse is Cashman calling a press conference to criticize Posada and to make sure everyone knew how he felt about the situation. What ever happened to trying to keep things in house? Your GM should not be getting more headlines than your star player, remember that Mr. Cashman. You thought this was good? Brace yourself: NY Yankees: Brian Cashman and Joe Girardi Equally Wrong in Jorge Posada Drama
