The New York Yankees Strike Out Again
The Yankees once again are the highest price paid team in the league and aren’t living up to expectations. In a down start for the AL East you would expect a team with a 200 million payroll to take first with Boston below 500. This year hasn’t been kind to the overpaid pinstripes with the Tampa Bay Rays holding a two game lead in the division. Yes the same team that lost its best player, first baseman and playoff starter.
Now the Yankees are stuck with starting pitching that will allow them to fail each month. Behind CC Sabathia they are left with a pile of left over’s that they picked up off the trash heap.
On offense they have had to be led by their centerfielder Curtis Granderson. It’s not the 100′s of millions that they have spread across the infield with Teixeira, Rodriguez, and Jeter. The top producer is not Robinson Cano who was supposed to be a MVP candidate.
All over the field this year the Yankees are showing their age and lack of depth in the rotation. After an okay start the team has been in a tailspin as of late with no signs of change. For a team with that payroll there starting rotation will pitch them out of the playoffs.
